Information Report About Kokako Birds.

Kokako Birds

Are you aware that a Kokako is known as a “wattle bird” but it scientific name is a “Callaeas cinerea.”  It is found in the forest of the north island, they build their on trees and bushes to protect them from their predator.  Kokakos are most likely to eat leaves, fruit, nectar and insects and is one of New Zealand's endangered animal.

A kokako has a grey feathers like a domestic pigeon, blue wattle, black beak and has really strong legs.  The reason why a kokako has really strong legs is because Maui gave it strong legs in return for bringing water to him after he had slowed the sun down, they use their legs to jump from tree to tree, but are not really good fliers.

Not many people know that kokakos eat leaves, fruit, nectar and insects.  This diet helps them to breed more which means we get more kokako birds in New Zealand rainforests.  They find their diet around them, in the air, trees and from the ground.

Kokakos are only found in New Zealand in the North island and South island, most of the endangered animals live in the north island where they are protected from their predators.  The kokakos that are dangerous are kept in the south island.  They find good nesting places that have good over cover to protect them from avian predator
(e.g. falcons)

Many people don’t know that kokakos don’t breed successfully when there is wild animals trying to hunt them down, but that’s not going to happen because the city council is helping out to protect that kokako and native birds.

This is my Information report about The Kokako birdsare really inportant.
